One of my favorite nutrition lessons a while back talked about what type of activity you would be able to do as you get older etc. It got me to thinking about what it means to really take the “long view”. That is, consider how much the actions you take NOW impacts your future health.
I often hear from people how they’re working on getting their food in order but “not there yet” or haven’t made it to the gym “as much as they’d like.” Consider though how every thoughtful choice food wise or workout squeezed in helps your overall health long term. Are you working on a Turkish get up in your 20s? That may equate to being able to get yourself up off the ground in your 60s. Working on sprinting in your 30s? That might mean you keep up with your grandkids on the playground in your 70s. Whatever your personal situation may be, the work you put in now does indeed have long term benefits. We’re building an overall lifestyle and the fact that you’re addressing your health presently is significant!
Consider taking the long view the next time you’re feeling “not there yet” and work on being just a little bit better every day. – Coach Tina
