What do you do for a living?
I am starting my 16th year in the education field. I have been a classroom teacher, diagnostician and school counselor. I am returning back to my role as a diagnostician this fall. I conduct intellectual and achievement assessments for special education and coordinate meetings to plan for educational needs. I am passionate about assessment and supporting parents as they make important decisions for their children.
How long you’ve been at VSC?
I started at Veritas in a January of 2013. I had a short break somewhere in there while I was working on my counseling certification and expecting baby number two.
Favorite VSC memory?
It is hard to pick one favorite Veritas moment. I think over the years I have to come to treasure the friendships I have made being a part of this amazing community. Working out in the morning at 8:30 during the summer and on holidays is something I look forward to continuously.
What hobbies do you have or do for fun?
I enjoy reading a good book and spending time outdoors with my family. I am working on getting back to running consistently which is something I enjoy.
Latest success/goal working towards?
My goal most recently has been to work on prioritizing time to focus on myself which can be challenging when working a full-time job and being a mom. I have benefitted from participating in the Summer Shred by being mindful of the choices I am making with food and my activity level.
Advice for newbies?
For anyone new to this journey, just keep coming and don’t give up. Week by week you will make improvements and eventually find yourself doing things you may have never thought you would do. Veritas has helped me to become the strongest version of myself.
