Is strength training good for weight loss?
The high-intensity workouts at Veritas Strength are great for burning calories and the harder you work, the more calories you’ll burn. As you increase your strength and endurance, you’ll also be turning your body into a fat burning machine. Those who show up CONSISTENTLY can expect to see increases in body strength and muscle mass. As your body’s composition changes you will be able to burn fat and calories better than before you started.
If you want to lose weight however, you’re going to need to combine your exercise, no matter how intense it is, with a good diet. We recommend you eat a variety of healthy foods (less carbs, more veggies and protein).
How many times a week should I work out?
There is a substantial difference in fitness results between those who train once or twice a week and those who train four to five times a week. Ease your way into the program over the first few weeks and let your body get used to working out! Once you’ve adjusted, you can start to really challenge and push yourself.
How should a beginner start?
You show up! You should expect to be challenged though and do movements and lifts that you may have never done before. You should also be prepared to exert more energy than what you’re used to.
There is a learning curve with working out and you will need to go through the process of learning the mechanics and movements. Don’t be afraid to try new things and you’ll improve quicker than you might think possible.
How long does a class last?
Most workouts last between 45 and 60 minutes.
Is it safe?
The simple answer is yes, strength training is safe. Especially when compared to how dangerous it to sit on your couch and do nothing! We will always have a coach there to help you move safely and effectively through the movements and exercises. To avoid injury, it’s important to go through the learning curve and to build your base strength levels before you push yourself harder.
